Waldner’s, along with the New York Steelcase/Nurture team, shared a major victory recently, winning a major piece of one of the largest healthcare projects in NYC, the new Henry J. Carter Healthcare Facility. The Henry J. Carter Healthcare Facility is a new 500+ bed long-term care rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility in Harlem. Named for Henry J. Carter, founder of Wheelchair Charities and a 40-year supporter of rights for those in wheelchairs, the facility supports patients who have suffered spinal-cord injuries, strokes or have degenerative conditions such as cerebral palsy, and require care focused on rehabilitation and improving functions for daily living. Many of the patients are medically fragile and in need of long-term acute care that can’t be provided at other hospitals. More than 100 of these patients are on ventilators – one of the largest such programs in the country.
